Joseph Kanter, 84, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2005 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:30am Tuesday, November 22, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to Joseph Hartman Lodge, PO Box 12330, Shawnee Mission, KS 6628202330 or the Heritage Center at the Jewish Community Center, 5801 W. 115th St., Overland Park, KS 66211. Mr. Kanter owned Comfort Felt Co. for 40 years. He also did television commercials, modeling, appeared in over 90 roles in various professional, dinner, university and community theaters, appeared in 3 Hollywood movies, did radio work and directing. Mr. Kanter was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, Bnai Brith, Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA. He loved acting, had a great sense of humor, and performed and partidipated in the activities at the Jewish Community Heritage Center. Mr. Kanter was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Esther Kanter and a brother, Dr. Arnold Kanter. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: David and Fran Kanter, Overland Park, KS; Ed and Rochelle Kanter, Leawood, KS; daughter and son-in-law: Elissa and Robert Goodman, Overland Park, KS; companion and special friend: Ruth Spielman; brother and sister-in-law: Allan and Elisabeth Kanter, Overland Park, KS: sister-in-law: Lee Kanter, Kansas City, MO; aunts: Ann Gale, Helen Cohn, Betty Kanter and numerous other loving family members.
