During the Riel Rebellion, Joseph and his family moved to the Athabasca region. They traded in that area for a year. Joseph buried 2 wood kegs of silverware and china before they moved and they never found it. Witnesses at his burial were Louis Lavallee and sons Augustin and David. Joseph is half-brother to Francois Desjarlais who is Chief of the Peyaysees Band 129.
Married (1) Julie Auger April 25, 1845 Fort des Prairies She died January 31, 1877 LLB mission -- she was known for her beauty curly blondish hari and bright blue eyes. Died at 55 years.
