About Joseph Marsh
John moved from Boston to Medfield, Mass. in 1717. He had land at Douglas in 1726. In 1729, he came from Medfield, having received a grant of land which was called West Medfield (also called Dumer and Douglas). The first town meeting was held in his house in 1746/7/8 when there were not enough qualified voters to fill the offices which was the reason for his brother, John Marsh, was selected as the town clerk despite of his not being a legal voter. Joseph Marsh was one of the first four voters and the moderator of this meeting. He was on the first board of selectmen and was a leading citizen of the town for many years. He was on the committee to erect the first meeting house. He died at Douglas on 12 April 1761. His will was written on 31 March 1761 and was allowed in Douglas, Worcester Co., Mass. on 27 April 1761.
