JOSEPH OLIVER MINTER was born circa 1750 in Virginia to John Oliver Minter & Elizabeth Michaux Morgan-Minter.

Joseph married Frances "Fanny" Hill-Minter circa 1784 in Chatham County, North Carolina, and they had EIGHT children that are known of:

Abner Hill Minter (1785-1855), John Morgan Minter (1792-1856), Thomas John Minter (1794-1825), Mary Minter-Farrar (1797-1877), Elizabeth Minter-May (1800-1822), Frances "Fanny" Minter-Hawkins (1802-1861), Sarah Minter (1803-1806), & Hanna Minter-Farrar (1804-1843).

Joseph passed away in February of 1823 near Haywood, Chattham County, North Carolina, and was buried in The Minter Family Cemetery on their plantation property located at Haw River Township near the intersection of the Haw & Deep Rivers, in the proximity of present day Moncure, Chatham County, North Carolina.
