Joseph was a son of Thomas Pierce and Elizabeth Cole, born at Charlestown Village (Woburn), Massachusetts on 13 August 1649. Another son of the same name had been born in 1648 and died in infancy.
He married Mary Richardson on 24 Jun 1681 in Woburn, Middlesex, Massachusetts

He was freem. 1677 and 13 Nov. of that yr. sold ld. in Charlestown. Thomas, f. of Stephen, could not be, as the biog. suppos. the same Thomas that d. 7 Oct. 1666, aged 83 yrs.
