About Joseph Post
He was born in Brighton Township (now Rochester), N.Y., where his father Stephen was disposing of some property owned by his father Gilbert. He died at Fayetteville, Tenn. His extensive travels can be traced by his connections with the Masonic fraternity. About 1870, with his wife and daughters, he travelled to Kansas by covered wagon, where he farmed for several years. He then moved to Hiawatha, Kansas, and shortly after to Knoxville, Tenn. where he remained and manufactured wagons and carriages. (His descendant Louis P. Willsea has a bed taken on the Kansas journey, which bed has been in continuous use).
