About 1770, Joseph Rounsevel moved from Freetown/ Middleborough MA to Washington, Sullivan County, NH. He was a very influential citizen and involved politically as one of the early settlers. At that time he also used the name Joseph Rounsival, Esq. and his name is engraved on the Washington Town Hall.
