Also:

On April 6, 1739, Alexander witnessed a deed for his brother, Truman, who had bought land from Charles Sawyer, husband of their cousin Anne(daughter of John Spence) (4). Four days later, he witnessed a second deed inwhich his brother Robert and Robert's wife, Anne, sold land along thePasquotank to Caleb Sawyer (5).

Truman acquired other land in the area, including 100 acres "lying onthe NW side of the White Oak Branch" purchased from Charles & Anne Sawyer on6 April 1739 (3). With Thomas Sawyer, Truman and his wife Tamer sold 50acres to Daniel Sawyer for 40 shillings on April 10, 1739 (the land beingout of an 850 acre patent granted to James McDaniel in 1738)(4) and 100 acreson the northeast side of both White Oak Branch and the Pasquotank toRichard Sawyer for 45 pounds on Apgil 18, 1741 (5). Given the language ofthese various deeds, it is possible that both Tamer and brother RobertSpence's wife, Anne, were daughters of Thomas Sawyer. It is interesting to notethat Daniel Sawyer's 1749 will mentions a daughter named "Taymer" (6), whocould have been named for Truman's wife. There is also some indication that Charles Sawyer's wife, Anne, was the daughter of John Spence and thus Truman's cousin.
