Joseph A. Silvey passed away at his home at Chestnut Ridge, five miles east of Farmington, MO, at 7:40 o'clock Tuesday evening, February 14, 1933, after a brief illness, aged 70 years, one month and six days.
Funeral services were conducted at the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church at one o'clock Thursday afternoon by Rev. E.H. Zipprodt, pastor of the Flat River First Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Leslie Clemons. Interment was in the Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
The deceased was a son of the late James and Nancy Silvey and was one of a family of 13 children. He was born on a farm one-half mile from where he was living at the time of his death and had spent his entire life there. Early in life he untied with the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
When twenty-one years of age he was united in marriage to Lulu Bono who survives him. To his union one child was born, Elsie (Mrs. Roy) Wampler. Mr. & Mrs. Silvey also reared a boy brom babyhood, Willie O'Brien. Mr. Silvey is also survived by one granddaughter, Eulalia Wampler; four brothers, Amos Silvey of El Paso, TX, George Silvey of Caledonia, Charles Silvey of Flat River; Andy Silvey of Farmington Route Three; four sisters, Jane (Mrs. J.W.) Jones of Howland, TX, Dora (Mrs. A.J.) Bono, Ellen (Mrs. C.C.) Wampler of Flat River, Louisa (Mrs. W.) Lambent of Farmington Route Three.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Finis, Will and Hiram Silvey; also a sister, Cora (Mrs. Russell) Deweez.
Joda Silvey, as he was known to a wide circle of friends, was a good man and splendid citizen as well as a kind, devoted husband and father.
