A heart attack was the cause of death. Mr. Snavely had been in his usual good health, apparently, until a short time before his death. Joseph Diviney Snavely was born at Crockett, VA on February 28, 1856, and was aged 83 years, 7 months, and 20 days at his death. He grew to young manhood, and was married to Miss Priscilla Elmira Grubb near Crockett on July 28, 1873. They came to Kansas in 1897, and for many years the home was on a farm east of Neodesha. In the spring of 1918, Mr. and Mrs. Snavely retired from the farm and moved to Altoona to reside. Mrs Snavely died there on April 17, 1931. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lula Willard of the home at Altoona, Mrs. W. H. Umbarger of near Altoona, and Mrs. P. M. Wagers of Altoona; two sons, J. S. Snavely of Strawsburg, Colo. and J. N. Snavely of east of Neodesha; one sister, Mrs. Carl Bowers, of Los Angeles, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. One daughter, Mr. Emma Bella Cline, preceded him in death on April 2, 1930, and one son Thomas J. died in infancy. In boyhood he united with the Methodist church and later with the Holiness church. He was a firm believer in the teachings of his master. He was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor, believed that "Honesty was always the best policy." For the past few years Mr. Snavely had been afflicted with a heart aliment, but was always cheerful and never complained, and often said: "I'm ready and waiting to go." Oituary provieded by F Mc
