Joseph William Stone, II

Father of actress Sharon Stone, Joseph William Stone II was an Eagle Scout and a journeyman die sinker who worked for five years at Sharon Steel, 20 years at Meadville Forge, 13 years at Lakeview Forge and 20 years at Aggressive Forge Die Company, which he co-owned. He was born on Sept. 20, 1930 in Polk, California, the son of Joseph and Lela Stone. Stone was happily married for nearly 60 years to Dorothy Marie Stone (née Lawson). They had four children; Michael, Sharon, Kelly and Patrick. He resided the majority of his life in Meadville and ultimately retired to Tionesta.

Stone was a lifetime member of the Meadville Elks No. 219 Club, coached Little League, was a member of the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club and worked with his daughter’s charity, Planet Hope. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.

On Saturday, December 12, 2009, he passed away from complications resulting from the reoccurrence of cancer and Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 79. His death was preceded by the loss of his brother, Eugene; as well as his mother, Lela, and father, Joseph William.
