Joseph originated from a town in Lithuania named Wolma where he married Estha Volvovitch (date unknown). They bore their first a child named Moisha in Lithuania around 1890. However Joseph left Lithuania between 1890-1900 and traveled alone to England between 1890-1900 in order to set up a new life away from the hardships of eastern Europe with the plan to be joined by Esther once settled. HIs original surname is unknown as he took on a new, more anglicised name (based loosely on this town of origin) when entering England. Joseph soon established a home in England and was joined by his wife and son. The date or route of either Eshter's or Joseph's travel to England is however unknown afield.
