BIOGRAPHY Maria Josepha was born 14 February 1664, the eldest daughter of Graf Ferdinand Bonaventura I von Harrach and Johanna Theresia von Lamberg. Her mother described her as the most difficult and stubborn of her children.

On 9 March 1682 Josepha became the second wife of Jan Josef, Graf von Küenburg, son of Graf Johann Friedrich von Küenburg zu Ungersbach and Johanna de Guzmán de Silva. The marriage was arranged by her parents, and Josepha was said not to be a particularly willing bride. She and Jan Josef had at least nine children, of whom a son and two daughters would have progeny.

They lived mainly in Salzburg, but also in Mladá Vozice (Jungwoschitz) in Southern Bohemia, the entailed estate inherited by Jan Josef from his elder brother Franz Ferdinand, the archbishop of Prague. Josepha added to the important library developed there by Franz Ferdinand and his relative Maximilian Gandolph von Küenburg, archbishop of Salzburg, by bringing to it Spanish works in both manuscript and printed form, collected while she was with her father in Spain, where he was the imperial ambassador to the Spanish court. These works included the manuscript of the 'comedia' _El Gran Duque de Gandia_ by Pedro Calderón de la Barca (1600-1681).

Josepha died 14 December 1741 in Salzburg, some 15 years after her husband.

In view of the repeated and lengthy stays of her father as well as her brother Aloys Thomas Raymund as imperial envoys at the Spanish court, her portrait was very probably painted in Spain.
