About Josephine (Gloria) Rosato
Left school after the eighth grade and began working in the family gas station at 3rd & Magnolia.She and her sister Marie had a brief stint as a singing group in the late 1930's. She lived, after marrying, with her in-laws on Magazine St. near 1st. Then on Milan St. next to her sister Marie. In early 1954 she moved with Patsy, Jimmy & Jay to Tolme St. in Bay St. Louis, then Engman St. next to Buster & Jean Heitzman, then Washington St.The family moved to 207 Julia St. in 1955 where they remained till after Annie and Mike were born. During Christmas 1962, the family moved to 742 Huckleberry Rd.
She was a Head Start pioneer who helped bring the Great Society program to Hancock County, Mississippi. She had been a stay at home mom till the youngest two went to kindergarten, at which time she became a teacher's assistant at Our Lady of the Gulf Elementary School. Hundreds of kids from that time hold her up as their reading teacher. She also began an avid interest and participation in acting with the Bay St. Louis Little Theater. She starred in many plays and won a "Louie" for her role in "Please Don't Drink the Water" in 1970.
On 15 January 2013 at 5:28 a.m. Glo-Worm left to go with her mama and sisters.
