Josephine Jackman (Frierson)

JACKMAN Josephine died on March 25, 2011, affectionately known as (Cootney) was born June 1, 1931 to the late Elizabeth James and Charles Frieson. She was the second oldest of three children. Josephine grew up in Columbia, Tennessee where she also received her education, graduating from Culleo Oka High School. She loved Sunday school and attended Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist church.She enjoyed catching turtles at the creek and her favorite was making mud pies and sliding down the ‘Haystack’ with her siblings. Josephine later relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in the early 1950’s and began working at Morgan Laundry. She later became a store manager and then a cook at the Little Scholar’s Workshop for many years until she was unable to continue working. Most of all playing spades was her favorite and arguing with her sister while playing. She also loved doing hair and always keeping her children looking good and having a beautiful home. People always wondered how she kept such a perfect home with so many children, but all was done while humming her favorite church songs and watching her soap operas. Josephine had a big heart and she welcomed everyone into her home. She was known for feeding the neighborhood family and friends. She was deeply loved by all including her God daughter Ongelique(Nikki) Myers; extended children Marvin Reddick, Leavada Jefferson, Pamela Neil, Aice Blackwell, Onna Green and Robin Benders. Josephine was a devoted mother to Mary, James, Vicky, Faye, Christi, Wayne, Roderick, Ricky, Kenneth, Keith, Debbie, Tangy and Peyton. Her deepest pride and joy is her Family. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Mattapan, Massachusetts and would always be found at church before the doors opened wearing her sassy hats. Preceding Josephine in death, son, James E. Jackson III and his wife Rodella Jackson, brother, Richard James, granddaughter, Brittany Goodman and a great niece, Shannon James-Martin. Josephine leaves to cherish her memories: Children, Mary Elizabeth (Jimmy) Lockridge of Brockton, Massachusetts, Vicky and (Ernie) Dunbar, Alice Faye Kennedy, Charles Christi Frieson, all of Nashville, Tennessee, Wayne Jackman, Roderick Jackman and (Pamela) Rathers, Ricky Jackman and (Michelle)Smith, Kenneth Jackman, Keith Jackman and Deborah Fay Jackman and fianc (Raymond) Smith, all of Boston, Massachusetts, Loutanjir (Jerome) Wright of Brockton, Massachusetts and Peyton (Tracey) Jackman of Boston, Massachusetts; Sister, Louella James, Sister-in-law, Geneva James, both of Columbia, Tennessee; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, along with host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
