STORY LINE When Joshua Linzey Ball was born on September 18, 1849, in Clay, Kentucky, his father, Addison Ball, was 27 and his mother, Abigail Adeline Robbins Ball, was 24. They already had 6 children. He died on September 1, 1920, in Rockcastle, Kentucky, at the age of 70. Joshua Lindsey Ball is buried at Briarfield Cemetery, Orlanda, Rockcastle County, Kentucky.

Excerpt from depositon given by Joshua Lindsey Ball. (I Jerry Lennis Cunningham, Sr (Author) have a copy of the original depositon. Very hard to read.) Joshua L. Ball, 28th February 1885, Chincapin Rough, Jackson County, Kentucky. "I am 35 years old. My P.O. is High Knob, Clay County, Kentucky. I am a farmer and a son of Addison and Abigail Robbins Ball. I never saw my father's father or mother. They lived in North Carolina in Buncombe County. Grandfather died in 1880. His name was Amraphael Ball. I think my grandmother died 20 years ago.(Abt 1865) One of my sisters now dead had what was supposed to be scrofula, when she was small. She had a swelling under the right ear, that mother supposed to be scrofula. (note--Scrofula is TB of the lymph glands) She was afflicted with a knot, a hard knot up and down her neck, her name was Polly Laswell, she lived in Rockcastle County on Brush Creek, about 2 miles from Langford Post Office. Margaret A., she is now dead. I heard my mother say, she thought the scrofula was working her, she was the one I first mentioned. I think she was 18 or 19 whe she died. She was married and had one child. Her husband was James Barnett, who lives on Brush Creek."
