Joshua Holcomb IV is recognized by the NSDAR as a patriot of the Revolutionary War (A056831). In December 1776, at the request of the governor of Connecticut, he was one of many who donated money to pay for transporting cannons and supplies from the iron foundry in Salisbury in the northwestern part of the state to Hartford for distribution to the coast. Those who descend from him and can prove it are eligible to join the DAR or SAR.
