Another reference is the Genealogical dictionary of Maine and NH. There
are 9 Josiah Clarks listed, but the first one looks like yours. They have him of Ipswich, b. abt 1646, son of Thomas the cooper and nephew of Edward of Haverhill. First cousin to Matthew, Hanniel, and Joseph, whose sons came to the Pisc. (See (49). In 1683 he bound out to Harry Green of Hampton the 2-yr old boy sworn on him by Sarah Warr. Tho. 'jr', his bro., was his surety in 1671, and in 1667 Tho. 'sr'. was surety for Josiah (31) 'about stocks'. See (49). He was sheriff's deputy for Essex Co. He d. 27 Sept 1691, adm to wid. Mercy (Boynton of Rowley m. 14 Dec 1670) who m. 2d 4 July 1692 Dea. Joseph Goodhue, 3d, Nov 1712 John Hovey, and d. 22 Dec 1730. He liv with his f. and did not come east, but his s. George who bot out his sisters Mercy, Hannah, and Sarah, wife of Nathaniel Bailey and his bro. Thomas, tailor of Boston, 1715, rem to Stratham. - GDMNH, p. 146 (The number in parenthses refer to other Josiahs.)
