Profile manager Brian Reynolds has his name as Joshua Migal STEYN. His information is based on research done by his grandmother but he is not able to determine what sources she used.

Note by Chris Steyn - According to SAG 12 page 216:

Hermanus Hendrik STEYN b1c3d8e10 had a son with the name Josias Michiel STEYN e10f4 who was born in 1814 and he died in 1888.

Josias Michiel married twice. First to Catharina Helena DE WET in 1835 and then to Anna Catharina Stephina VILJOEN.

Brian's grandmother's sources give the name of the wife of Joshua Migal STEYN as Helena Magdalena DE WET. This adds to the uncertainty of the matter whether Joshua Migal and Josias Michiel would be the same person. However, Brian has written in response to my query:

Yes, Josias Michiel STEYN is the same one (source: my grandmother's records from her research when she was alive - I have no official documentation that she got the information from in the 1960's)

From Sias Steyn, one of the descendants I received information that his grandfather Josias Michael STEYN did a lot of research on the family and came with the conclusion that the name should actually be Josias Michael STEYN. This research has been done thoroughly so I conclude this is the correct name and have changed the name accordingly
