Resolutions - "Resolutions of the Council of Policy of Cape of Good Hope", Cape Town Archives Repository, Defunct website tanap.amtex.nl seen and entered by Gerhard Swart. According to an affidavit by Matthijs Bersted on 21 Apr 1716, he sold and transferred a piece of land on the Zoute River to Joost Stevensz: van Druten on 20 March 1714. He declares that he never received payment and that the whereabouts of Joost Stevensz: was unknown ("...is geworden fugitiv, immers sonder dat men weet werwaarts gebleeven is). He requested permission to resell the land. Note: It seems that Joost returned to the Netherlands around this time.
