Joyce Joan Thorton

Joyce Sandefur Thorton, 68, of Midland, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2010, in Odessa. She was born on November 15, 1941 in Strawn, TX, to the late Willie Henry and Dorsett Isabell Sandefur.

She was raised and educated in Strawn, TX and graduated from Mineral Wells High School. She later moved to Pampa, TX. Joyce was a very independent and free spirited person that always had a smile on her face. She touched many people's lives just by her warmth and friendliness. One of her granddaughters always commented on how hard of a worker she was. She enjoyed cooking, especially for a large group of people, gardening, watching reality TV shows and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Joyce was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Dorsett Sandefur; brother, Richard Sanderfur and her sister-in-law, Cindy Sandefur.

She leaves behind a son, David Sandefur of Odessa; daughters, Kay Collis and Angie Moore and husband Steve all of Midland; brothers, Raymond Sandefur of Dallas, Bill Sandefur and John Sandefur both of Pampa and Clyde Sandefur of Laguna, CA; sisters, Ella Hazard of Sweetwater, Patti Barnett of Abilene and Barbara Martinez of Pampa, TX; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one grandchild on the way.

Family will be receiving friends tonight from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Sunday July 18, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home.

A graveside service is set for Monday July 19, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, TX. Services are under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home.
