Ella Mae Hazard 1934 - 2015

Ella Mae Hazard, 80, of Sweetwater, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015, in Sweetwater. A private family graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home with Bro. Matt McGowen, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.

Born Aug. 29, 1934 in Strawn, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Willie Henry and Dorsett Isabell Sandefur.

She married the love of her life, George William Hazard on Sept. 3, 1953, in Ranger. Together they had four children who they lovingly adored.

Ella was an example to all she touched. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for countless years, as well as serving on numerous committees. Her faith was an example to all. She embodied what it was to be a Proverbs 31 woman. Her most cherished times were those spent with her beloved family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, her soap operas, as well as assisting George in his print shop. Her loving spirit will truly be missed by all she touched. One of her proudest roles was that of grandmother to her 13 beloved grandchildren. She and George left a lasting legacy that will surely be passed on for generations to come.

She is survived by four children: two sons, Gary Hazard, Mike Hazard (and wife, Vanessa) all of Sweetwater and two daughters, Nancy Mosley (and husband, Reggie) of Fort Worth and Beverly Nash (and husband, Johnny) of Rotan; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and another great-grandchild due in August of this year.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and Richard Sandefur; and a sister, Joyce Thornton.

In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials to be made to the Alzheimer's Association 301 S. Pioneer Dr. # 105, Abilene, TX 79605.
