Judge Daniel R. Hicks died at the residence of John Linder in Tahlequah District, Cherokee Nation, on the 12th inst. in the 55th year of his age. The funeral services took place from the Presbyterian Church in Tahlequah, which were conducted by Rev. L. Dobson. The remains were deposited in the town cemetery, by the side of his former wife in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. The deceased was born in the State of Georgia and came to this country when quite young, at the time of the general emigration of the Cherokees west. The announcement of this death will be a matter of no less regret, as of surprise to the many friends of the Judge, not only in the Cherokee Nation, but wherever he was known throughout the Territory.
