About Judith Ann "Judy" Berman
Judith Ann Berman was a 7-year-old victim of the Hartford Circus Fire, which broke out on July 6, 1944 and killed at least 167 people.
Judith was the only child of Hyman Berman, the owner of Berman's Department Store, and Rose (Pierson) Berman. The family lived at 24 Stillman Road in Wethersfield. Judith was a third-grader who was taking dance lessons.
Judith was found deceased on the circus grounds on July 6, as was her mother. They were buried in a joint service officiated by Hartford rabbi Morris Silverman on July 9.
