DAVID PARISH was born in 1725 in GOOCHLAND CO., VA. He died in 1789 in GRANVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA.

He was married to JUDITH HOLLAND (daughter of JOHN HOLLAND and MARTHA) on 4 Jan 1758. DAVID PARISH and JUDITH HOLLAND had the following children:

David Parrish may have moved to Granville, NC about the same time that his first cousin, Brisse Parrish, moved there.

The will of David Parrish is on file in Granville, NC wills, Vol. 2, page 306, and the will of Brisse Parrish is in the same book on page 211. Both appear to have died around 1791/2.

The will of David Parrish (Granville, North Carolina Wills, Vol. 2, page 306) was written on 20 August 1789 and proved in court in August 1792.

For some time it was thought that a David Parrish who sold his land in Goochland County, Va. in 1753 and emigrated to Granville Co., N. C. was the [father] of Claiborne Parrish [d. 1836] - this particularly being thought to be the case since in his Will of August 20, 1789 (filed for probate in the Granville Co., N. C. Court, August term 1792) in which along with his wife, Juda, and daughters, he names a son, Claburn Parrish, along with his other son David and son Booker's (apparently deceased) daughters, giving land to David in Chatham Co., N. C., but giving son Claburn the larger Granville Co. lands with his plantation and appointing Claburn as an Executor. Both the names of Claburn and David appear along with that of their father in the 1790 U.S. Census for Granville County, N. C., so the time frame for this Claburn, being the same for the subject Claiborne Parrish, fitted reasonably well.

Estate papers of Claburn Parish d. 1796 in Granville County, NC show that he was the son of David Parish:

Court records of Granville County (Deed Book Y, p. 348, 1818-1820) contain an indenture (15 Nov 1819) indicating that Zachariah Dutton married Judith Parrish, widow of Claborn Parish, dec’d, in disposing of land which David Parish owned and gave to son Claborn Parish and citing Woody Parish, Humphrey Parish, and Joseph Parish as the only sons of "the said Claborn Parish.” Other records (see sources) show that the Claborn Parish who was husband of Judith Parish d. in 1796.
