About Julia Ann Whitman (Braley)
Julia's Obituary reads:
Death came to Mrs. Geo. Whitman, an old resident of Tittabawassee Township, Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock, her demise being due to cancer of the stomach.
Julia Braley was born in Royalton, Niagra County, New York, April 30, 1827. When she was eight years of age she came with her brother, Phineas Braley, to Saginaw, making her home with her brother for some time. August 8, 1849, she was married to George Whitman, of Tittabawassee, where Mr. Whitman was engaged in lumbering in the early days. They went to Oregon later, where he died some fifteen years ago.
Seven children were born to the family, three of whom survive: Mrs. G.P. North, Montgomery Ala: Mrs. T.P. Madill, Salem, Ore, and Eugene, at home.
The funeral will take place tomorrow at 1:30, o'clock from the home. Rev. Sanborn, of Holly, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
