Julia Mae (Billings) Roberson Davis

Papa Jeff's 1st wife died and he remarried to Julie Mae Robertson. Bessie was about 12 or 13 when he married Granny Mae.

Bessie says they only moved once back to Oklahoma after they married then back to Regan TX and then they bought furniture and settled down. She was a very nice lady. Everything was done on schedule such as papa jeff start the fires and make coffee, the two brothers would fee the stock and anything else that needed to be done outside. Julie wold help with breakfast with the smallest helping her. The older girls would make the beds and change the linens if needed along with sweeping the floors. By 7am all had breakfast and were ready to start work in the fields or washing or what ever chores needed done with no complaining. Julie (Granny Mae) died a few months after Thelma married in 1949 or 1950. She died of gallstones. The doctors had told her she had them but she did not believe in surgery.
