About Julian Clifton Carswell Lane, D.D.S.
"When he first came to Statesboro, he saw the need for a bridge over the Ogeechee River from Screven, Not only would such a span be convenient to him, but it would open a valuable inlet for trade with Statesboro and with Bulloch County. Through his efforts the county obtained this bridge and road, designed to be opened as a national route linking Columbia South Carolina, with Florida. It is known locally as the Burton's Ferry Road."
