Source: Buffalo Morning Express Monday December 29, 1924; p.12 col. 1. MOTHER OF LATE ELBERT HUBBARD DIES Juliana Frances Read, widow of the late Dr. Silas Hubbard, to be buried on Tuesday. Juliana Frances Read, widow of the late Dr. Silas Hubbard and mother of the late Elbert Hubbard of East Aurora, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William R. Heath No. 46 Berkeley [sic] place, yesterday. She was in her 96th year. Mrs. Hubbard was born in New York city in 1829, the daughter of William and Mary Read. She was taken to Buffalo when five years old. In 1849 she was married to Dr. Silas Hubbard and in 1855 the couple moved to Bloomington, Ill., where Dr. Hubbard practiced for 45 years. They made their home in East Aurora from 1900 until 1916, when they moved to Buffalo. Dr. Hubbard's death occurred in 1917, Mrs. Hubbard going to live with her daughter, Mrs. William R. Heath. Mrs. Hubbard was the mother of eight children, two of whom are living. They are Mrs. William R. Heath of Buffalo and Mrs. Lewis B. Easton of California. She was the mother of the late Elbert Hubbard, Mrs. John D. Larkin and Mrs. Florence D. Pollitt. She was a member of the East Aurora Baptist church and of several social organizations. In addition to the two surviving children, Mrs. Hubbard leaves 24 grandchildren and 3[?] great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private and will be held from her late residence, No. 46 Berkeley [sic] place, tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
