About Juliann Emrick
Funeral services for Mrs. Juliann Emrick, who died Sunday at the home of her son George W. Emrick, at Donegal, Westmoreland County, after an illness lasting three weeks, were held yesterday by the pastor of the Donegal Methodist Episcopal Church, with burial in the historic Schellsburg cemetery along the Lincoln Highway in Bedford County. The deceased was a daughter of Stephen and Catherine Wonders and was born August 6, 1834, at New Paris, Bedford County, PA. She was married twice, her first husband being Azariah Davis, to whom she was married in 1855. Two children were born to this union, Katharine J., deceased, wife of George L. McDowell, New Florence, and Annie L., widow of George Claycomb, of Buffalo Mills. Mr. Davis passed away three years after the marriage. In 1869 the deceased and John Emrick were married. Four children were born, as follows: Martin [sic - Martha] wife of Earl H. Hammer, and Edwin E. Emrick, both of Johnstown; George W. Emrick, of Donegal, Pa., and Stephen, who died in infancy. Ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren are among the survivors, together with several stepchildren. The deceased was a member of the United Brethren Church for 74 years.
Funeral services for the late Mrs. Juliann Emrick, aged 89 years and five months, who passed away Sunday at Donegal, Westmoreland County, were held here Tuesday and were largely attended. The deceased was a daughter of Stephen and Catherine Wonders and was born at New Paris, Bedford County, August 6, 1834. She was married twice. She and Azariah Davis were united in 1855, having two daughters, Catharine J., deceased, wife of George L. McDowell, of New Florence, Pa., and Annie L., widow of George H. Claycomb, of Buffalo Mills, Pa. Mr. Davis died in 1858. Mrs. Davis and John Emerick were married in 1869, he having died in March, 1904. The children to their union were: Martha, wife of Earl H. Hammers, and Edwin E. Emrick, both of Johnstown; George W. Emrick, of Donegal, Pa., and a son, Stephen, who died in infancy. There also survive 10 grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and eight step-children, who are Samuel S. Emrich, deceased, of Shanksville, Pa.; Rebecca Stoner, of Fishertown, Pa., Jacob E. Emrick, of Alum Bank, Pa.; and John H. Emrick, of Ryot, Pa.; Maggie Kalp, of Davistown, Pa.; Jennie Miller and Hannah Wonder, both of Johnstown. Sarah M. Blackburn, of Ryot, Pa., was also a step-daughter. Mrs. Emrick was a member of the United Brethren Church for over 74 years. Funeral services were held at the home of her son, George W. Emrick. The body was taken to the Schellsburg Cemetery.
