About Julius Bloch
http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Julius-Bloch-led-Brooks-Camer...
Julius Bloch, a Jewish immigrant who escaped Nazi Germany and settled in San Francisco, where he grew a Kearny Street camera shop into the internationally known Brooks Camera, has died. He was 94.
Mr. Bloch, who died June 14 of natural causes in his San Francisco home, was born in 1909 in Rheinbischofsheim, a small German town. As a young adult, he worked in a camera store in Frankfurt, and he had been chosen to take over its operations when the owner retired. But in 1936, the owner told Mr. Bloch that it was too dangerous to stay and urged him to flee the country.
