Some record list Evelyn Matthews as a daughter.But in 1920 US Census, she actually belonged to the Matthews family listed just above the Barkers.

Graduated in 1886 from Kirksville MO Commercial College with an accounting degree. Assistant cashier at Wellsville Bank in MO 1886-1891. Cashier at Desha Bank of Arkansas City in AR 1891-1895. Organized & served as Director of the Bank of Atkins in AR 1895. Was Treasurer for the City of Atkins for 14 years. He was a Methodist Episcopalian & a Democrat, serving as Trustee for the Methodist Episcopal Church of Atkins & member of the Democratic State Central Committee 1902-1903. He was the President of the Arkansas State Bankers Association 1911. He was a member of the Arkansas State Board of Charities 1901-1907, Masons, Knights Templar, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias (past Chancellor of Grand Lodge 1900). He like to hunt & fish.
