Karen Lee

When Karen Gulbrandsdatter Gilbertson was born on April 11, 1848, in Gran, Norway, her father, Gulbrand, was 27 and her mother, Kari, was 25. She married Ole Olson Lee on October 24, 1880, in Polk County, Wisconsin. They had six children in 10 years. She died on June 19, 1932, in Star Prairie, Wisconsin, at the age of 84.

The 1865 census lists Gudbrand Gudbrandson, age 44 and his wife Kari Olsdatter, age 43, living on Gundalen gard, in Naes local parish within Gran parish in the Mjonvald school district with seven of their children: Johanne age 20, Marthe age 16, Ingeborg age 7, Berthe age 5, Anne age 1, Gudbrand age 14 and Ole age 3.  Their daughter Karen was living on Egge Ovre gard with the John Pedersen family as a tienestefolk (hired help).  

Single daughter Karen immigrated at the age of 19 in April of 1877
