Obit: Audubon Journal, 23 Jan 1908 Mrs Peter Nelson died suddenly at her home Tuesday night of heart failure. She had been ailing a good many years but no fears of its seriousness were entertained by her family altho in the last year she had become weaker and more confined to her room. She is the wife of one of the wealthiest citizens of Cass county, a native of Denmark, who many years ago came with her husband to America and endured ll the hardships of pioneer life with his continuous sacrifices in the amassing of wealth. A large family of children grew up around her, a credit to her careful training and her earnest teachings and example in the path of rectitude.

Her sons, Julius, Ed, Lud, Alfred, Gilbert and John are all among the foremost farmers and feeders of the county, settled in beautiful homes of their own. Her eldest daughter Alma, who has taken the care and responsibility of the home for many months in constant attendance to her mother's wishes, with her younger sister, Rose remains heartbroken and bereft. Another daughter, Mrs Evans Marquesen, with the youngest of the family, Miss Martha, resides in Exira.

Mrs Nelson was respected by all who knew her. She never fully acquired the English language and was always diffident in making acquaintances among Americans but those who knew her admired her.
