About Karl Blumenthal
Karl Carl BLUMENTHAL: b. . 17 March 1903, Selters - d. 25 Jan 1974, Cook, Ill
Initial information - plus some documents - kindly provided directly by Barbara BECKER, a descendant of this family.
It appears that Karl BLUMENTHAL suffered a long Odyssey before finally managing to find a safe home in the USA.
- Between 13.11.1938 - 15.02.1939 he was incarcerated in buchenwald (cf. Arolsen Archives indicated below).
- he was then clearly released and first moved to the UK, but he was interned there as an "enemy alien", and subsequently deported to Australia.
- from there he finally secured travel to the USA:
cf. e.g.Buchenwald registration and further documents courtesy of Arolsen Archives.
