Details of deportation and subsequent death courtesy of:
Charles & his presumably second wife Maria née BAUMGARD were in the region of Nice, Côte d'Azur, where they were rounded up in the notorious "Rafles d'août" in August 1942. The arrested Jewish citizens were incarcerated in the Caserne Auvare for a while before being put on a goods train, in locked-up wagons, and transferred to Drancy.

Convoi # 29
Specifies that this couple was married. Last address in Nice: 167 Bouevard Carnot
N.B. It is not yet clear what may have happened to Karl's first wife Maria née SAMEK. No further records to be found after the birth of their two children as at least Karl left the Jewish community.
Whether this Maria died or the couple were divorced - in Wien or even after fleeing to refuge in the south of France remains a mystery for now. Karl's presumably second wife Maria née BAUMGARD may not have been Jewish - there are no individuals with that surname at all in IKG-Wien indexes and very few with something similar - but it is is possible that her mother was initially - or other parental ancestors married non-Jewish partners.
Unfortunately, no further information to be found on the couple who were living in Nice, France, at 167 Boulevard Carnot. No Yad Vashem Pages of Testimony submitted for either or both of them. Not yet known what happened to the two children ...
Also N.B. That this WOLF couple were on same convoy from Drancy to Auschwitz as another WOLF couple - but this could be pure cooincidence. They were separate until that time.
