Kasinathuni Nageswara Rao

కాశీనాథుని నాగేశ్వరరావు (1867 - 1938) ప్రముఖ పాత్రికేయుడు, వ్యాపారవేత్త, స్వాతంత్ర్య సమర యోధుడు, రాజకీయ నాయకుడు, గ్రంథాలయాల విస్తరణకు కృషి చేసిన విద్యా వేత్త, దానశీలి, ఖాదీ ఉద్యమాన్ని ప్రోత్సహించాడు. ఆయనను 'నాగేశ్వరరావు పంతులు' అనేవారు. దేశోధ్ధారక అని ఆయనను అంతా గౌరవించేవారు. 1935లో ఆంధ్ర విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ఆయనను 'కళాప్రపూర్ణ' బిరుదుతో సత్కరించింది.

నాగేశ్వరరావు పెద్ద చదువులు చదవలేదు. పదవులు ఆశించలేదు. ఆంధ్ర పత్రిక, అమృతాంజనం సంస్థలను ఆయన స్థాపించాడు. ఆంధ్రపత్రిక, భారతి, ఆంధ్ర గ్రంథాలయాల ద్వారా తెలుగు సాహిత్యానికి ఎనలేని సేవ చేసేడు. ఆయన స్వయంగా రచయిత. భగవద్గీతకు వ్యాఖ్యానం రాసేడు.

ఆయనకు విశ్వదాత, దేశోద్ధారక అనే బిరుదులు ఉన్నాయి. ఆయన తలచుకొంటే లక్షలపై లక్షలు ఆర్జించి కోట్లకి పడగలెత్తేవాడు. ఆడంబర రాజకీయాల జోలికి పోలేదు. అమృతాంజనం ద్వారా గణించిన డబ్బును పేద విద్యార్థులకి వేతనాలుగా ఇచ్చేసేవాడు. ఆయన దేశభక్తినీ వితరణశీలాన్నీ గాంధీ మహాత్ముడు కూడా మెచ్చుకున్నాడు

చెన్నై లోని నాగేశ్వరరావు నివాసమైన శ్రీబాగ్ లోనే చారిత్రాత్మక శ్రీబాగ్‌ ఒడంబడిక కుదిరింది. కోస్తా, రాయలసీమ నాయకుల మధ్య కుదిరిన ఈ ఒడంబడిక ద్వారా ఆంధ్ర రాష్ట్ర ఏర్పాటుకు మార్గం సుగమమైంది.

జీవిత విశేషాలు

కాశీనాధుని నాగేశ్వరరావు కృష్ణా జిల్లా ఎలకుర్రు గ్రామంలో 1867లో మే 1న జన్మించాడు. తల్లిదండ్రులు: శ్యామలాంబ, బుచ్చయ్య. స్వగ్రామంలోనూ, తరువాత మచిలీపట్నంలోనూ విద్యాభ్యాసం కొనసాగింది. 1891లో 'మద్రాసు క్రిస్టియన్ కాలేజి'లో పట్టభద్రుడయ్యాడు. ఆ కాలేజిలో ప్రమముఖ విద్యావేత్త డా.రెవరెండ్ మిల్లర్ ప్రభావం ఆయనపై బడింది. వివేకవర్ధనిలో కందుకూరి వీరేశలింగం వ్యాసాలు కూడా ఆయనను ప్రభావితం చేశారు

వ్యాపారం

నాగేశ్వరరావు కొద్దికాలం మద్రాసులోనూ, కలకత్తాలోనూ, బొంబాయిలోనూ ఉద్యోగ వ్యాపారాలు నిర్వర్తించాడు. వ్యాపారంపైన ప్రత్యేక ఆసక్తితో 1893లో అమృతాంజన్ లిమిటెడ్ స్థాపించాడు. ఆయన స్వయంగా రూపొందించిన అమృతాంజనం అతి కొద్దికాలంలో అద్భుతమైన ప్రజాదరణ పొందింది.

Kasinadhuni Nageswararao, better known as Nageswara Rao Pantulu, was an Indian, journalist, nationalist, politician, and a staunch supporter of Khaddar movement.

He participated in the Indian independence movement and in the Indian National Congress party, including Mahatma Gandhi’s civil disobedience movement through salt satyagraha.

He was conferred with the title Desabandhu (uplifter of the masses) by the people of Andhra Pradesh. In 1935, the Andhra University honoured him with Kalaprapoorna, an honorary doctorate of Literature.

Early life

Nageswararao Kasinadhuni, popularly known as Nageswararao Pantulu Garu, was born on 1 May 1867 in Elakurru village, Pamarru mandal in Krishna district of Andhra to a Brahmin couple, Bucchaiah and Syamalamba. He received his early education in his native place and later at Machilipatnam. He graduated from Madras Christian College in 1891.Kandukuri Veeresalingam’s articles in Vivekavardhini journal influenced him.

Business

After a brief stint in business in Madras, he went to Calcutta to work in an apothecary business for some time. Later, he went to Bombay to work in an office. But, he was restless and interested in starting his own business. He founded Amrutanjan Limited in 1893 and invented Amrutanjan pain balm, which soon became a very popular medicine and made him a millionaire.
