About Katarina Virovkic (Zabadlia)

Katarina gave birth to eight children; one son was beat to death by a schoolteacher at the age of 14, only four that I know of survived to adulthood. I only know the names of those four. This is family knowledge passed on from Katarina's daughter, Maria aka "Mary", to my mother, who gave it to me. I am told that a grandfather was a Baron in Tuscany, Italy. He left there during the time of Garibaldi (c. 1870?...perhaps Katarina was born in Italy?) and relocated in Virovitica. I believe he was a Zabadlia/Zavaglia. In researching the Zabadlia name in Italy, I found one who seems likely to be a relative, but it is unknown whether he married or had children. He was an engineer who worked in Rome rebuilding the Cathedral. He was appointed by the Pope. Our family from then until my mother's generation is Roman Catholic. At least two of my grandma's brothers were very creative and skilled engineers. Also, his likeness resembles my grandma and her brothers somewhat.
