KATHERINE BRANT MOORE

Mrs. Katherine (nee Brant) Moore, widow of the late Cyrus Benford Moore of New Lexington, passed away at about 11 o'clock Tuesday night, August 8, 1922, at her home in Berlin, from heart trouble. She was in her 68th year and had been ailing for several weeks, but her condition became serious only a few days before her death.

Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late George and Sarah (nee Dull) Brant of New Centerville, where she was born and reared. She was united in marriage to Cyrus Benford Moore, a prominent merchant of New Lexington, where she spent her married life. Her husband preceded her to the spirit world about six years ago. Five and a half years ago she moved to Berlin, where she resided up until the time of her death, having purchased a desirable home on Main Street.

Mrs. Moore was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and took part in all its activities, at the time of her death being a teacher of a class of women in the Trinity Lutheran Sunday School. She was a woman of intelligence and a great reader. Her store of knowledge concerning the Scriptures and matters religious peculiarly fitted here for Sunday School and Church activities in which she took such a delight. She was a woman of deep religious convictions and by her beautiful Christian life and friendly disposition exercised a great influence for good with all whom she came in contact and for the moral uplift of the entire community. She was a woman whom to know was to love and esteem.

During her residence in Berlin for more than five years she made scores of friends among the people of the community who will ever cherish her memory with feelings of love and appreciation for the beautiful life she lived and the helpful influence she created for the benefit of all. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and a kind neighbor and her passing away will be deeply mourned by her intimate friends and the community at large.

She is survived by one son, Ralph Waldo Emerson Moore, of Pittsburgh, and one daughter, Mrs. John Brubaker, of Berlin, and by five step-children, Mrs. H. D. Schaff, of Rockwood; Mrs. H. G. Will, of Meyersdale; Mrs. Robert Emory Ross, of Addison; George B. Moore, of New Lexington, and Clarence Moore, of Meyersdale. One sister, Mrs. H. D. Moore, of Rockwood, also survives.

Funeral services were held at her late home at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by her Pastor, Reverend C. P. Bastian, after which the funeral cortege proceeded to New Centerville, where interment was made.
