Katherine was born about 1610. She passed away after 04 March 1674, on which date: "Thomas BIRCHARD and wife Katherine and Thomas TRAPP witnessed the will of John PEASE of Martha's Vineyard."

The widow Katherine Andrews was married before 21 July 1659 to Thomas Birchard/Burchard, according to this record: "1659, 22 Sep: Administration of the estate of Lewis MARTINE was given 21 Jul 1659 to Thomas TRAPP in behalf of Mr. John ANDREWS, to whom it was given, the the said Thomas TRAPP failing in giving security to the recorder who understanding & finding the said Thomas TRAPP to be conveying himself & the said goods out of this jurisdiction to Martin's Vineyard to Thomas BURCHARD who married the said Thomas ANDREWES mother." (NOTE: those last words should have said: "the said John Andrews mother.")

By 21 July 1659 Thomas Birchard married the widow Katherine Andrews.[1] Probate records for Lewis Martin imply that Thomas Birchard had married the mother of John Andrews, Katherine. Katherine Birchard signed a deed with Thomas in 1663.[2]

The History of Martha's Vineyard, Dukes County, Massachusetts: Town Annals, page 51, says of Thomas Burchard: "His second wife was Katherine Andrews, a widow, mother of John Andrews, a linen draper of London, whom he married before 1659." It also suggests that the widow Katherine Andrews was related to Thomas Trapp. Perhaps this will be a clue to finding out to what Mr. Andrews that Katherine was first married. Katherine's son John Andrews also called Thomas Trapp his cousin.

"A Birchard Find" Barton B. Williams The American Genealogist. 64:85-88. (1989) presents the text of "A Book of Reacords" kept by Jesse 5 Birchard (John4, Samuel3, John2, Thomas1)

[p. 2]

1 Thomas Birchard came from England to Mathers Vinyard dyed he married Mary Roberson
his son 2 John Birchard [illegible] came from England he married Christan Andrew theay lived in Norrich [p. 3]

"2 John Baldwin came from England he married Hannah Birchard siter to John Birchard both from England his son 3 Thomas Baldwin maried Abigal Lay of Lime hur mother was Sarah Andras sister to Christan Andras ..." "very likely that Christian Andrews was daughter of this widow Andrews, and had therefore married her step-brother."[3]
