Her mother and father were of Dutch ancestry. Katherine had two older brothers, John and Jacob, twin brother Peter, and her other brothers were younger.
She married Samuel Brown, and they lived in PA, in an area with streams and forests. Her family build sawmills and gristmills along with good homes and they were fairly prosperous.
Katherine's sons were called the "Wild Brown Boys".
