About Katherine Gabel
Mrs. Joseph Gabel, 74, Passed Away Friday - Arcadia - Mrs. Joseph Gabel, 74, one of the longtime citizens of this vicinity,passed away Friday, August 21, after an illness which has kept her confined to her bed for the past two years or more. Mrs. Gabel, nee Kate Werle, was born June 7, 1862 at Port Washington, Wisconsin, and when ten years old came with her parents to Manistee county, they settling on what is now the Studley farm at the north edge of Onekama township at Werle's Corners. She was married to Mr. Joseph Gabel and they settled on the farm just one mile north of her chilhood home, which has ever since been their home. She is survived by her husband, one son Adam, at home; and two brothers, Joe Werle of Arcadia, and Adam Werle of Arcadia township, and sister Mrs. Rose Marotz. Funeral services were held Monday morning from the home and St. Joseph's church at Onekama with burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
