Evidence from the National Records of Scotland

12 March 1619: Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Thomas Somervell, clerk, of the diocese of Glasgow, notary public, narrating that John Chancler, younger of Scheilhill, in implement of a contract (dated at Libbertoun and Raploch 8th and 12th March 1619) entered between him, with consent of Katherine Hammiltoun, his spouse and Gavin Hamiltoun of Raploch, for their interest, and William Ram in Libbertoun, gave sasine propriis manibus of 2 oxgates of land in Neddertoun of Quodquen, with houses etc. (occupied by Laurence Broun in Quodquen), lying in the parish of Quodquen, barony Carnuath and sheriffdom of Lanerk, to the said William Ram in terms of the said contract and of a charter to be made thereupon. Done on the ground of said lands on 12th March 1619. Witnesses, John Leis in Quodquen, James Wauch there, Richard Kemp there and James Chancler, son of William Chancler formerly in Overtoun of Quodquen. Registered Part. Reg. Sas.
