MRS. KATHERINE HOFFMAN DIES SUNDAY, JAN. 2 AT CANBY, MINN. FUNERAL CONDUCTED FROM ST. PETER'S CHURCH JAN 5

Another of Stacyville's early citizens has been called by the death angel, the chosen one is Mrs. Katherine Hoffman, a resident of Canby, Minnesota, since August 28, 1900. She died January 2, 1944, and the following account of her life and death appeared in a Canby, Minn., newspaper last week.

Mrs. Katherine Hoffman, 82, who died Sunday afternoon, January 2 at Canby, Minnesota after an illness of two weeks, was buried Wednesday morning, January 5th, following services in St. Peter's church, Rev. E. M. Coughlin officiating.

Mrs. Hoffman had been failing in health for the past year. Requiem high mass was sung by the church choir and Ramona Frank sang a solo. Pallbearers were Joe Koenig; Henry Koenig; Frank Winkel; Peter Grew; Henry Benken; and Joe Fassbender.

Katherine Halfman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Halfman, was born August 26, 1861 in Johnsburg, Wisconsin.

When she was 14 the family moved to Stacyville, Iowa, and she was married to Joseph Hoffman there January 31, 1882.

They lived in Stacyville eight years and then moved to Adams, Minnesota, where they resided 11 years. August 28, 1900 they came to Canby and Mrs. Hoffman resided here until her death.

Surviving are four daughters and two sons; Marie Hoffman of San Francisco, who was unable to attend the rites; Anna; Casper; Joe; Mrs. Nick. P. Frank of Canby; and Julia of Owatonna. There are nine grandchildren. Three sisters and nine brothers also survive. Mr. Hoffman died May 1, 1939. Mrs. Hoffman was the eldest of a family of 21 children.

Relatives attending the rites were: Julia Hoffman of Owatonna; Mary Bennett and Peter Hoffman of Hoven, South Dakota.
