November 1955: Mary Schneider Called By Death

Mrs. Mary Schneider, age 87 years, a well known Melrose lady died Monday morning at the St. Otto's Home at Little Falls after a short illness. The body was brought to the Schoenecker funeral home here and the funeral was held Wednesday morning at the St. Boniface church.

Msgr. Matthias Hoffmann officiated at the funeral. Active pallbearers were: Chrys Tieman, Casper Moorman, Henry Hollermann, A. H. Kraker, Joe Fern and Ben Tobroxen. Honorary pallbears were: Mmes. Paul Hinnenkamp, George Rehkamp, Henry Tieman, Frank Tieman, Mary Hoppe and Peter Welz.

The deceased was born in Wisconsin April 3, 1868. At the age of 7 her family moved to Stacyville, Iowa.

On November 9, 1886, she married Anton Schneider at Stacyville, Iowa, and a year later they came to Melrose to make their home. Mr. Schneier died here January 24, 1945.

The children surviving are: Frank of Modesto, Calif., Mrs. L. A. (Ann) Teske and Mrs. A. M. (Margaret) Claesgens of Owatonna, Mrs. Scott (Theresa) Hedges of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Harry F (Julia) Snyder and Dorothy of Minneapolis, and Henry of Long Prairie.  there are 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.  A sister, Julia Halman of Campbellsport, Wis., also survived.
