Katherine is the daughter of Rev. Robert Craighead and Agnes Hart Craighead. She married Rev. William Homes. She and her husband, William, and brother, Thomas Craighead, immigrated to America in 1715. Katherine and William had 10 children.

A slate stone in the graveyard of Chilmark marks her burial place. It bears the following inscription:

"Here lies buried the body of Katherine Homes the very pious relict of the Reverend William Homes late deceased who departed this life to a better. April ye 10th 1754 in ye 82nd year of her age".
