About Katherine 'Kate' Pulitzer (Davis)
On June 19, 1878 as Kate Davis, she married Joseph Pulitzer in the District of Columbia.
TIME Magazine August 8, 1927 Milestones Died Mrs. Joseph Pulitzer, 78, widow of the founder of the present New York World at Deauville, France. She, once Miss Kate Davis of Georgetown, D.C., was a cousin of President Jefferson Davis of the Southern Confederacy. To the last her remarkable beauty mellowed rather than waned and she was of the elect among United States hostesses in Europe possessing superb homes in Nice and Deauville.
Three sons survive: Ralph and Herbert Pulitzer, respectively editor and an executive of the World and publisher, Joseph Pulitzer of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Also has living two daughters, Edith, wife of William Scoville Moore [1886-1975] and Constance, wife of William Gray Elmslie.
