Katie Cain Blondell was born April 13, 1884 in Brooklyn, NY of Irish American parents.
Mother of actress Joan Blondell. Known as "Katie," she performed for many years on the vaudeville circuit and around the country with her husband, Ed Blondell, accompanied by their young children, Joan, Ed Jr. and Gloria. When Katie took ill, 8-year-old Joan replaced her in the act. Eventually, all three children joined the act.
