Kathryn Mourene Peery Greenway, 90, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo., where she had made her home for the past 16 months. She was born Jan. 9, 1917, near Brimson, Mo., the daughter of William Homer and Anna Shaw Peery. She was married to Bobby V. Greenway on June 13, 1948, near Trenton, Mo. Mrs. Greenway taught school in several rural schools in Grundy County, Mo., Auxvasse, Mo., and Center School in Kansas City, Mo. She was a substitute teacher in the Excelsior Springs School District for many years. She was a graduate of Kirksville College. She moved to Excelsior Springs in 1960. She was a member of Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs, where she taught Sunday school and was active in women of the church activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Fauntine Peery Gleason and Alice Peery Kuhn; a brother, Woodson Peery; a son-in-law, John Wright; and a nephew, Walter Peery. She is survived by a brother, Stan Peery, Jamesport, Mo.; two sisters, Virginia Tolle and Phyllis Anderson, both of Trenton, Mo.; two daughters, Vicki A. Wright and Susan K. (Dean) Dagley, Excelsior Springs; four grandchildren, Robert Wright, Russell Wright, Deana Branson and Jared Dagley; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial in Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, prior to the services, at the church. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church in Excelsior Springs.
