Kearn Charles Kennedy

Kearn Charles Kennedy was born on June 6, 1815 in Ferbane, Kings County (now County Offaly) Ireland. At this time, we do not know who his parents were. We assume they were born & buried in County Offaly, Ireland.

According to his naturalization records, he immigrated to the United States in October of 1834. He settled somewhere in Massachusetts. It was in Massachusetts that he married Margaret Grant, who had also immigrated from Kings County Ireland. They married in Massachusetts in about 1838. It was there that their first child, George Grant Kennedy was born on January 2, 1839. By the time their second child Thomas J. Kennedy was born on July 11, 1841, they had moved to Claremont, Sullivan County, New Hampshire. In Claremont they had four more children. Ann Jane Kennedy was born on January 4, 1844. Margaret Elizabeth Kennedy was born in about 1847. Mary Augusta Kennedy was born in June of 1849. The Sixth and last child, Charles Kearn Kennedy, was born in October of 1851.

Kearn, Margaret, and their children immigrated from Claremont, New Hampshire to Castle Grove Township, Jones County Iowa in 1855. The original Homestead appears to be the SE 160 acres of Section 18, Castle Grove Township, Jones County, Iowa, their home was located in the SE corner of this property. It was there that Kearn and Margaret raised their children.

Kearn died on September 13, 1872. He was buried in the cemetery next to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Castle Grove Township. He is buried there with his wife Margaret (Grant) Kennedy, and his second child, Thomas J. Kennedy.
